MEMORANDA is a print and binding project informed by archive. A 3 X 4 metre studio wall condensed into 156 cream pages, addressing the mental glitch between digital and analogue note keeping and the hard problem of connecting each vastly different limb of extended consciousness back to the whole. This is a working thought on how to transfer the collected iPhone, text edit, post it, journal, workbook or looseleaf notes that grow across a studio wall like moss – or wind through desktop files like a virus – out of analogue/digital confinement (and eventual stasis) and into gestalt modes that conserve their potential energy and generative capacity. The decay and/or warp of memory, human and silicon alike, is the site of analysis.
A lifelong devotional practice to practice itself. A salve for the pang of moving on and away from completed projects by unifying them into a boundless whole of continuous research, reference and knowledge production. A dual point of closure and endless return.
